Charlotte, N.C. (10/31/12) North Carolina Air National Guard’s 145th Civil Engineer Squadron called 26 Airmen to active duty at the Stanly County Airport near Albemarle, N.C. These guardsmen will ready the Disaster Relief Beddown System , a self-contained package designed to support 500 people with tents, generators, showers and bathroom facilities. Wooten receives recognition at Hometown Heroes ceremony.

Senior Master Sgt. Donnie Wooten, a member of the 156th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, receives recognition and appreciation from Colonel Roger E. Williams, Jr., 145th Airlift Wing Commander and Command Chief Master Sergeant Maurice Williams during an official Air National Guard ceremony known as the Hometown Heroes Salute. Each airman who served 30 or more days away from home throughout operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and New Dawn is awarded a framed Hometown Heroes Salute Coin with a Letter of Appreciation signed by the ANG Director and Command Chief Master Sergeant, and a Pen & Pencil Set for their spouse or significant other. Master Sgt. Robert C. Ritchie Jr., of the 118th Air Support Operations Squadron, North Carolina Air National Guard, is awarded the American Red Cross Certificate of Recognition for Extraordinary Personal Action by Tim Patton of the Carolina Piedmont Region of the American Red Cross for giving medical attention to a woman who was pinned between a vehicle and a building. The Certificate of Recognition for Extraordinary Personal Action is one of the highest awards given by the American Red Cross.
