145th AW Keeps “Mission Ready” as 2nd Winter Storm Hits the Carolinas
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Dennis Heidenfeldt, 145th Maintenance Squadron, communication and navigation specialist, starts up a power unit providing power to a waiting C-130 Hercules aircraft at the North Carolina Air National Guard base, Charlotte Douglas Intl. airport, February 12, 2014. During a snowstorm that crippled the city and cancelled many flights, Heidenfeldt worked with contractors installing Real Time In Cockpit (RTIC) unit which enhances and integrates a situ¬ational awareness (SA) capability that allows aircrews to commu¬nicate with ground crews during airlift, airdrop, and other opera¬tions.
