NCANG, 145th Airlift Wing host Education Fair

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --  The North Carolina Air National Guard and the North Carolina University System joined forces to host the 145th AW/UNC Education Fair, April 18, 2015, at the North Carolina Air National Guard base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport. 

Representatives from several local and state institutions came to showcase programs they offer to veterans including baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees. Universities are streamlining many programs for the military student. 

Paulita Brooker, from Pfeiffer University Center for Professional Advancement, described the value of the event as a great opportunity to interact with other representatives and the prospective student.

"This event gave representatives time with each airman to explain programs and benefits in greater detail," said Brooker, "including VA and DoD education benefits, financial aid and distance and online programs."

Over 45 members attended the fair to see how a college program would improve their career path in the Air National Guard. A new mandate for enlisted promotions to senior master sergeant requires a minimum of a two-year degree, making education a priority.

One of benefits of being a member in the Air National Guard is that it not only gives you the unique opportunity to serve your community while you earn your college degree, but it also allows you to easily make a positive and lasting impact on your community as well as your future.
