CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The North Carolina Air National Guard's, 145th Comptroller Flight (CPTF), Budget Office, was recognized by Secretary of the Air Force Finance Management Programs office as being the first of 25, including all Active Duty, Reserve and Guard units, to have accurately completed the pre-work required to go live with the new accounting system, Defense Enterprise Accounting System (DEAMS).

"Due to military school training requirements, the Budget Office has been 33% manned for most of this fiscal year making this accomplishment quite a feat of their overall team effort in meeting this important deadline," said Capt Jeanie Helms, Comptroller for the 145th CPTF.

DEAMS is a program designed to give the U.S. Air Force a 21st century financial management system that provides accurate, reliable and timely business information to support more effective decision-making.

Using DEAMS streamlines cost accounting, purchase requests, accounts payable, financial obligations and collections and customer billing, giving the Air Force timelier, accurate and relevant financial data while helping the service achieve auditability.

"There will be some growing pains with DEAMS, but once we get through those, I believe it will greatly enhance our accounting and budget process for Resource Advisors," said Master Sgt. Jeff Harwood, Accounting Liaison Officer for the 145th CPTF.

Lisa Disbrow, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management, described the financial managers as the greatest asset in achieving audit readiness.

The team members who worked so diligently to provide top notch support and surpass the deadline are 2nd Lt. Joyce Quick, Master Sgt. Jeffery Harwood and Tech. Sgt. Sarah Marshall.
