145th CES supports community as renovations begin on 2nd Tarheel ChalleNGe site
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Brandon Scott, instructor for the 145th Civil Engineer Squadron, reviews Mission Essential Equipment training with airmen from the 149th CES, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas at the 145th CES Regional Training Site, New London, N.C., July 20, 2014. The training is part of an ongoing project to renovate and transform an abandoned school into a 2nd Tarheel ChalleNGe site. Airmen will use heavy equipment to remove landscaping and clear terrain around future Tarheel Challenge Academy site in New London, North Carolina. The Tarheel ChalleNGe is a quasi-military style program that helps teens, ages 16 to 18, get their GED and develop life coping skills to prepare them for future employment or further education endeavors.
