CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Aircraft from other states have joined the nine C-130s of the Charlotte-based North Carolina National Guard's 145th Airlift Wing located at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in preparation to assistance missions in the Northeast. Members from the New York Air National Guard arrived on board their C-17 Globemaster cargo aircraft bringing with them two HH-60 Pave Hawk, a variant of the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters from the 129th Rescue Squadron. Other aircraft include one C-17 Globemaster cargo aircraft from the 249th Airlift Squadron Alaska Air National Guard, 146th Airlift Wing Channel Island, California, 152nd Airlift Squadron Reno, Nevada Air National Guard. More than 100 people have arrived with aircrafts. Guardsmen have mobilized aircraft and personnel to the NC Air National Guard's 145th AW, awaiting reassignment in support of Hurricane Sandy.
