  • Maintainers Learning at Every Turn and Torque

    A few months have passed since the April conversion from the C-130 Hercules aircraft to the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, and members of the 145th Maintenance Group have wasted no time training as many of their Airmen as possible. The Monday following the official conversion they initiated a 90 day course with a Field Training Team to facilitated the training of 88 Airmen.
  • It's Not Just About the Drill

    Volunteering their time, Airmen of the North Carolina Air National Guard, spent the day at Independence High School judging the annual Patriot Classic Drill Competition which drew in Air Force Junior Reserve Offices' Training Corps teams from 14 high schools with over 300 students participating. The competition is a qualifying event where winners can move onto regional and national competitions
  • Train As You Fight To Save Lives

    On a corner of the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport 25 agencies and over 100 volunteers gathered to participate in the Triennial National Disaster Medical Systems Exercise to fulfill a Federal Aviation Administration requirement. The exercise goal is to demonstrate the ability to alert, notify, and respond to an aircraft accident utilizing and communicating between various organizations to ultimately recover and render medical aid to victims. A C-130 Hercules aircraft for the 145th Airlift Wing was utilized in the scenario to add realism, and fire-fighters from the 145th Civil Engineer Squadron participated as part of our interagency agreements.
