145th Medical Group Team Completes the USMC Ultimate Challenge

On Saturday, September 19, four members of the 145th Medical Group competed in the 16 Annual USMC Ultimate Challenge Mud Run in Columbia, SC. The competition involves a 4.2 mile all terrain run including 30 challenging obstacles that each team member must successfully navigate. The course includes mud and water holes, walls, covered trenches, hills, rope climbing, and other obstacles that require swimming, low crawling, jumping, and it all ends with a 100 yard stretcher carry of one team member.

The team members calling themselves "The Med Group Mudders" are LtCol Pete Fenn, LtCol Windell Robertson, Major Tommy Ferguson, and Capt Sam Ingram, completed the competition in 1 hour, 2 minutes and 25 seconds. Their finish time ranked 478 out of 1,777 teams. In addition to the "Mudders", MSgt Pam McCraney of the Med Group attended the event as a volunteer.

The event raised over $200,000 for The Greater Columbia Marine Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Foundation sponsors the Mud Run to raise money to support Marines and their families from the Columbia area who have been wounded or killed while serving on active duty.
