Colonel Selicia M. Mitchell is the deputy wing commander of the 145th Airlift Wing, Charlotte Air National Guard Base, North Carolina. As the deputy commander, Col. Mitchell aids in administrative oversight and coordination of the activities of four groups, consisting of 17 squadrons and flights. She assists in policy guidance, programs, and plans necessary to organize, train, equip, and maintain the combat readiness of over 1400 airmen and (8) C-17 Globemaster III aircraft worth $2.4B. The 145th Airlift Wing provides strategic and tactical airlift in support of worldwide mobility and combat operations, as well as defense support of civil authorities for the state and the nation. Prior to this assignment Col. Mitchell was the Chief of Plans and Integration for the Manpower, Personnel, Recruiting, and Services Directorate, Air National Guard Readiness Center, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
Col. Mitchell was commissioned in 1999 upon graduating from the United States Air Force Academy. She attended Undergraduate Air Battle Manager Training at Tyndall AFB, Florida. She earned her Air Battle Manger wings in 2002. She was assigned to the 963rd Airborne Air Control Squadron, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. There she served in OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. Her next assignment was in the 728th Air Control Squadron where she deployed again in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. During her active-duty career, Col. Mitchell served as an Air Weapons Officer and Air Surveillance Officer. Upon joining the North Carolina Air National Guard in 2009, Col. Mitchell served as an Air Liaison Officer and then changed careers to become a Military Personnel Management Officer prior to becoming the 145th Security Forces Squadron Commander.
