Colonel Michael-David Komorous is currently the Commander of the 145th Operations Group, North Carolina Air National Guard, Charlotte, NC.  He commands 520 combat ready members that are directly responsible for conducting strategic-tactical airlift, air traffic control, special tactical air support, aeromedical evacuation, tactics-intelligence and combat weather support for homeland defense and deployed combat operations. 

Colonel Komorous was commissioned in 2001 through the Officer Training School program as a "Distinguished Graduate" at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, AL. He began his career as a Minute Man III Instructor and Combat Crew Commander before attending Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, TX.  A designated evaluator pilot in the MQ-1, he has over 3,000 flight hours across multiple weapon systems to include the C-17. Col Komorous has served at FE Warren, WY; McChord AFB, WA; Creech AFB, NV, and multiple assignments across Germany, Sicily, Djibouti, and the Middle East.  He is a senior pilot with numerous combat deployments.  He has more than 40 combat missions and 180 combat support missions.  Most recently he graduated from National Defense University with a Master’s Degree in National Security & Resource Strategy.  His staff assignments include the executive officer to the Air National Guard Readiness Center Commander at JB Andrews, MD, followed by Chief of Rated Management in NGB A1 where he managed a 3,700 pilot retention program.
