Col JOHN W. ROGERS

Colonel (Dr.) John W. Rogers is Commander of the 145th Medical Group, North Carolina Air National Guard, Charlotte, North Carolina. As Commander, he coordinates the provision of services to support medical readiness across the spectrum of Wing missions. Within the Medical Group, personnel provide support for physical exams, immunizations, laboratory services, public and occupational health, bioenvironmental engineering, dentistry, optometry and medical logistics. Col Rogers ensures appropriate training and equipping of personnel to maintain medical readiness for the 145th Airlift Wing.

Colonel Rogers was commissioned in 2002 as a direct commission into the North Carolina Air National Guard. After attendance at Commissioned Officer Training, he was assigned as a medical officer to the 145th Medical Group. He attended the School of Aerospace Medicine and became qualified as a flight surgeon in 2004. He was assigned as Squadron Medical Element with the 156th Airlift Squadron, North Carolina Air National Guard, from 2004-2008. He has deployed in support of multiple contingency operations including Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Joint Enterprise, Pacific Angel and Coronet Oak. Colonel Rogers has logged more than 500 hours as aircrew member in multiple aircraft types including C-130, KC-135, and C-12.

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Rogers served as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine with the 145th Medical Group. In his civilian capacity, Colonel Rogers is a board certified Radiation Oncologist with a multispecialty oncology practice based in Roanoke, Virginia.
