Colonel James S. Lott, Jr. is the Vice Commander of the 145th Airlift Wing, North Carolina Air National Guard, Charlotte, North Carolina. He assists the Commander with the formulation, presentation and execution of an allocated multi-million-dollar budget involving several major force elements and state funds. Through subordinate commanders he assists in the planning organization, direction and control of the flying mission, maintenance and protection of assigned C130H aircraft along with acquisition, construction and maintenance of real property. He is responsible for the recruitment, training, supply and care of assigned personnel.
Colonel Lott was commissioned through the United States Air Force Officers Training School in 1981, and attended Undergraduate Navigator Training at Mather Air Force Base, California. He was assigned as a navigator to the 40th Tactical Airlift Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. Colonel Lott joined the North Carolina Air National Guard in 1987. Since joining the North Carolina Air National Guard, he has served in various key staff and command positions. He served as an operations officer and a commander for Expeditionary Airlift Squadrons during Operation Enduring Freedom as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a Master Navigator with more than 7,400 flying hours.
